Woman arrested for DUI after allegedly killing cyclist

One woman in Colorado has been arrested for DUI. The DUI arrest came after an accident in which police said she struck and killed a cyclist. The accident took place on a recent Saturday evening.

According to authorities, the cyclist, 35, was riding a bike at about 5:15 p.m. All of a sudden, the woman, 24, crashed her car into the man. She then allegedly fled the scene.

Authorities said they later found a pack of beer featuring 30 beers in the woman's car, with just five of them unopened. In addition, a witness reportedly found the woman in her damaged vehicle after the crash, where she was laughing hysterically. The woman now faces charges of vehicular homicide and hit-and-run along with DUI. The woman had recently been sentenced for a DUI conviction she got in March and was on probation. She has a history of driving recklessly along with a past charge of DUI in another state as well.

A person who has been arrested for DUI in Colorado may opt to go to trial to fight the charge or may seek to strike a plea deal with the prosecution, which might lead to a more lenient sentence for him or her. The criminal defense will strive methodically to pinpoint any weaknesses in the case the prosecution is bringing against the client. For instance, some evidence in the person's case might be inadmissible for various legal and technical reasons. Defense counsel will pursue a result that is the most favorable for the accused considering the circumstances surrounding the case.
